Our Team
Jamila El Sahili
Mila is the Founder and Owner of Mila’s Porcelain Bar. She’s an artist and activist, passionate about human rights, community, children, and self-discovery.
When her journey into ceramics began, she had a very hard time finding a pottery studio that she could connect with. She was searching for a small community oriented studio in East Harlem. There was none. So we built one, for you and for us.
Mayowa Nwadike
Mayowa is a self-taught multi-disciplinary Nigerian artist and mixed media painter. His works are descriptive, driven by African stories and symbolism. Mayowa loves art in all forms and is one of the creative minds behind Mila's Porcelain Bar and Director of Experiences.
Cameron Busch
Cameron is an Instructor at Mila’s Porcelain Bar and a full-time ceramicist who focuses primarily on wheel-thrown pottery, while occasionally incorporating hand built pieces into her collection. Her work is retailed nationwide, and showcased in art markets across the NYC area. With a deep appreciation for this timeless craft, she is passionate about sharing her love of ceramics with her students and enjoys watching their skills grow with every session.
Thomas Swayze
Thomas is an Instructor at Mila’s Porcelain Bar, originally from Jackson, Mississippi, who takes pride in the southern landscapes that have influenced his life and works. Thomas graduated from the University of Alabama with a Bachelor of Arts in Dance and other studies including Studio Ceramics. This created an intersection of mediums that Thomas describes as movement arts. He continues to study the shared relationship of movement between dance and ceramics.
